When you think of super-agents, you think of Mino Raiola. The Italian has been one of the game’s most influential figures when it comes to transfers, and having him on side can often be a blessing in curse. For Manchester United, the 52-year-old has played a key role in seeing some of his high-profile clients like Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic head to Old Trafford.

And in an interview with The Telegraph, Raiola opened up on what United desperately need at this moment in time. He said: “The club needs a specialist, a sports director, someone between the team, the coach and the owners, someone who can bridge the sides. Today you need that specialist because the coach has no time to manage scouts and other tasks and I feel that is lacking at Manchester United.”

After hearing his comments on United’s lack of a sporting director, United fans flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on what Raiola had to say.
A couple of fans even insisted that Raiola’s comments showed he is doing more for the club than former legends.
Some fans were even adamant that Raiola is “smarter” than the likes of Ed Woodward and the Glazers, with one supporter in particular claiming that the agent has “better intentions” for United than the club’s hierarchy.
When someone who is as divisive as Raiola appears to have united a fan-base, then there must be some truth to what he has had to say. The Red Devils’ recruitment in recent years has been sketchy to say the least – just look at the signing and then sale of Angel Di Maria all within a year. Having someone behind the scenes to stream-line that process could be a masterstroke.
