Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen is wanted by Ajax and Napoli in the January transfer window, per The Daily Telegraph.

The Belgium international, who has won 118 caps for his country, has a contract that expires at the end of the season and he is yet to commit to fresh terms in north London.
Vertonghen remains a key member of Jose Mourinho’s squad, playing 17 times in all competitions already this season.

The 32-year-old can agree to a pre-contract deal with a foreign club this month and his former employers, Ajax, and Italian giants Napoli are both interested in striking a deal.
The latter are, however, said to be interested in signing him this month, while the Dutch club want to bring him back to Amsterdam after selling him to Spurs in 2012.

Spurs can’t allow Vertonghen to leave this month without bringing in any reinforcements.
The defender has been utilised at left-back and in central defence throughout the campaign, plugging holes in both positions.
Thus, allowing him to leave at the turn of the year would be nothing short of gross negligence.
With the transfer window open, Spurs need to act fast to potentially bring in a replacement if Vertonghen is allowed to leave.
The better scenario, though, is keeping him around.
Mourinho is hoping to convince him to stay and Football FanCast sources understand that conversations are continuing over whether or not he will commit to the club.
